Labbot Lens opens, plots and compares the data from
your Labbot runs. It is already installed on the instrument PC, next to
Labbot Core. You can also install it on your own computer, to analyse
your results at your desk. It replaces Viewer 2.
What you need
- Windows 10 version 1809 or later, or Windows 11,
64-bit. Check with Win+R,
winver.
- The installer,
Labbot Lens_<version>_Installer.exe.
- No administrator rights - you can install it just
for yourself.
Labbot Lens is available for Windows. A macOS version is
coming soon.
Installing
- Run
Labbot Lens_<version>_Installer.exe.
- Windows may warn about an unknown publisher,
because the installer is not code-signed yet. Choose More
info, then Run anyway. If your company’s IT
blocks it, ask them to allow it; the release package’s
README.txt lists its SHA-256 checksum, so they can check
that the file is ours and unchanged.
- Choose Install for me only (no administrator rights
needed) or for all users (needs an administrator).
- Tick Create a desktop shortcut if you want
one.
An older Labbot Lens on the PC is replaced. Viewer 2 can stay, but
you won’t need it.
Getting your data onto your
PC
Labbot Core saves every run on the instrument PC, in
a managed data folder. To work on a run on your own computer, make a
copy of it there first:
- On the instrument PC, in Labbot Core: Data ▸ Experiment
Data…
- Select your run and press Export….
- Save it to a USB stick, a network folder or anywhere you can reach
from your PC.
- On your PC, in Labbot Lens: Load Experiment and
choose the exported run folder - the folder itself, not a file inside
it.
The exported copy holds everything Labbot Lens needs: the spectra,
the text data, the procedure and the run’s own plots. A good place for
your copies is Documents\Labbot Lens, where Load
Experiment starts.
If your lab keeps its experiment data on a network drive, your Admin
can tell you where it is. Even then, make your own copy to work on.
Old data. Runs saved by Labbot 1.3
(Documents\LABBOT data) and opened in Viewer 2 open in
Labbot Lens as they are.
What Labbot Lens does with
the data
- The recorded data is never changed. Spectra, text
files and the run’s own plots stay exactly as Labbot Core wrote
them.
- Your own plots - calculated from the data with
scripts - are saved in the run folder, next to the data. Overlay several
plots, export them together, or make a report.
- Compare spectra from different runs on the Spectrum
tab, and save a comparison as an ensemble.
Help
- The
? button in the corner of every
window opens the manual at that window.
- Help ▸ Labbot Lens Manual - the full manual: the
three tabs, scripting, the file formats and troubleshooting.
- Help ▸ Report a Problem… - a form already filled in
with the version and Windows details; send it to
issues@labbot.bio.
